VIKTOS Drops the Range Trainer XD—A Waterproof Boot Made to Move

VIKTOS Drops the Range Trainer XD

When the skies open up and the range turns to soup, there are two kinds of people: those who call it a day, and those who tighten their laces and get after it. If you’re the latter, VIKTOS has something you’ll want on your radar—and on your feet. Meet the Range Trainer™ XD Waterproof Boot, a new breed of tactical footwear built for shooters, hustlers, and weekend warriors who refuse to take rain checks.

At The Gear Bunker, we’ve tested enough boots to know when something’s just marketing fluff and when it actually deserves a spot in your rotation. The Range Trainer XD? It’s legit.

Built for Range Days and Rainy Days

Let’s be honest—most “tactical” boots are either too clunky, too stiff, or fall apart when you treat them like a real piece of kit. VIKTOS didn’t go that route. Designed by U.S. veterans who’ve actually been there and done that, the XD was engineered to handle everything from muddy carbine courses to sprints through parking-lot puddles.

Here’s what makes it tick

  • 1060D nylon upper with reinforced leather toe and heel caps
  • Waterproof/breathable micropore liner to keep your socks dry
  • StormStrike™ DWR finish to repel water and oil-based grime
  • Range-optimized outsole for superior grip on wet pavement or loose gravel
  • Hi-rebound EVA midsole for sneaker-like comfort during long training days
  • 10mm heel-to-toe drop to keep your stance stable when speed matters
  • Weight: Just over 2 pounds for the pair

In short? This isn’t your granddad’s jungle boot.

These Boots Don’t Flinch

If you’ve ever run drills in soggy boots or tried to dry out a pair in your car between sessions, you know how much that sucks.

The Range Trainer XD is the antidote. With its waterproof shell and quick-dry liner, you’re not just surviving the elements—you’re steamrolling through them.

They grip like trail runners, cushion like gym shoes, and shrug off water like a duck in a downpour. And unlike the stiff-soled torture devices some boots pass off as “tactical,” these have actual flex and rebound—making them ideal for dynamic shooting positions, fast transitions, and maybe even mowing the lawn like you’re clearing a compound.

We’re not saying they’ll improve your split times—but they’ll sure as hell keep you from face-planting in the mud while trying.

Veteran-Designed, Mission-Ready

“We wanted to build a boot that doesn’t quit before you do,” says Perry Latuharhary of VIKTOS. Mission accomplished. Whether you’re racking up hours on the flat range or just want something bombproof for everyday wear when the forecast turns biblical, the Range Trainer XD brings that “always ready” energy.

And in typical VIKTOS fashion, they didn’t forget the style. These boots look as at home in the truck as they do behind cover. No unnecessary bulk, no over-the-top branding. Just clean lines, aggressive traction, and performance-first materials.

Worth the Hype?

We’re planning to run a pair through our own mud-soaked gauntlet this season, but on paper—and knowing VIKTOS’ track record—these boots check a lot of boxes.

Waterproof? Check. Lightweight? Yep. Legit for range, work, or just owning the rain like a savage? Absolutely.

If your current boots tap out when things get wet, it might be time to upgrade.

The Range Trainer XD Waterproof Boots are available now at VIKTOS.com.
