Back in 1989, Gatorz recognized a need for rugged aluminum framed eyewear. Producing a brand of eyewear that could be relied on by military and LEO personnel to stand up to any mission. The new Delta frame from Gatorz was a welcome addition for me. After wearing several of the company’s wrap frames for years like the Magnum and Wraptor, I was pleased to see a more lifestyle frame appear like the square-shaped Delta. Keeping all the benefits of previous designs, the Delta blends in a bit easier in my opinion.

Gatorz Delta Overview
Adjustable nose pieces and an aluminum frame that can be manipulated to provide a custom fit ensure the Deltas will stick to your face in dynamic environments. There is a great demonstration of how to properly “fit” the frames here. Once properly fitted, you’ll find a few baked-in features that are really nice. Like the super thin lightweight temples.
These temples are designed to work well with over-the-ear hearing protection. For any type of shooting, the temples allow easy removal or the dawning of the eyewear without adjusting your ear-pro. I’ve found this very handy while flying too. The soft ear cups on my Bose A20 headset morph perfectly around the temples letting in zero outside noise.

Another nice feature of the temple is the width. Without being too bulky, Gatorz has found a width that’s just right to block the worst of the unwanted side light between your eyes and the lenses. It doesn’t block all of it but a fair amount. If you’re looking for maximum side light protection, the Magnum is a great option.
Included polarization of the lightweight lenses is great for on the water or in the air. Six different base lens colors from smoke to clear offer six different VLT percentages. Or visible light transmission. All with a different mission in mind. Be sure to check out Gatorz “find your fit” to help pick the right lens for you.
Gatorz extensive list of fames and lenses offer endless combinations
With seven different frame (colors) themes, ten polarized lenses, four ballistic lenses and one non-polarized lens, it would be difficult not to find what you’re looking for. Gatorz even offers a prescription service for those in need. I own a pair of polarized prescription Deltas in my flight bag. And absolutely love the clarity and comfort over long periods of wear.
The only drawback I’ve ever come across with Gatorz Eyewear is they get hot. If left in a vehicle or airplane in direct sunlight, they will melt your face when you put them back on. So be sure to put them back in their included case or out of direct sunlight. Otherwise, I highly recommend Gatorz Eyewear.
About Gatorz:
“Gatorz launched in 1989 in San Diego, California with the intent to build rugged eyewear from billet aluminum that mission-driven people could rely on for both protection and clarity. Conventional, plastic-framed eyewear could deform when met with the high wind force of skydiving and motorcycle riding; Gatorz saw an unfulfilled need and developed a solution.
Gatorz’ strength and no-slip fit soon made its way from skydiving and motorcycle sports into the US military’s special operations community, with the original Magnum frame as a favorite, dependable eye protection solution for functional ballistic protection.” ~gatorz.com
