As a frequent traveler, I’m always looking for the best way to pack and organize my gear. Typically, I prefer to carry my luggage on the aircraft versus checking bags. So maximizing organization is a key component to fitting everything into a carry-on. Phoozy, best known for their thermal protective cases for tablets and phones. Now introduces the TechCapsule 2.8L. Designed to organize all the little things necessary for traveling with electronic items, this 2.8L case features all the right pockets. And still maintaining the company’s core values like water and thermal protection. Two of the biggest enemies of electronic gadgets.
TechCapsule 2.8L Video Overview
Manufactured from the company’s X-Tech material, the waterproof shell of the TechCapsule features a patented Chromium Thermal Barrier. The synergy of these features protect your electronics from rain, snow, damaging heat as well as battery draining cold. Divided into 2 separate compartments, the 2.8L TechCapsule can carry much more than meets the eye.
Two Functional Compartments
Found on the front of the Capsule is a 1L Tech Organizer pocket. When fully zipped open, you’ll find several elastic bands to secure cables, phone, passport, pens, light, etc. While the opposite side features a mesh zippered pocket for smaller loose items. As well as a tether and clip for attaching keys. The Tech Organizer pocket measures: 9.5 x 6.0 x 1.0 inches.
The rear of the TechCapsule makes up the remaining 1.8L storage compartment. Here you can store larger items like an iPad mini, Kindle, larger phones or power banks. Two open mesh pockets allow separation between items like a phone and power bank. Or the larger wall adapter and cable required for most laptops. A soft, flat pocket is a great place to store money, passport or checkbook. If anyone still uses one of those. The interior dimensions of 1.8L side is: 9.5 x 6.0 x 2.0 inches.
Versatile Carry Options
On the back of the TechCapsule are three different carry options. Further increasing the versatility of this piece. A pair of plastic loops for attaching the included adjustable shoulder strap can be found on top. Additionally, four horizontal velcro straps work perfectly for attaching the Capsule to the extended handle of a carry-on piece of luggage. I’m not sure if that was the intention but it worked for me on a trip to Washington DC. Finally, if you’re into fanny packs, there are two wide belt loops sewn into the back if you’d like to wear the TechCapsule.
Final Thoughts:
After conducting a few international and domestic trips with the TechCapsule, my final verdict is in. For week long trips or more, the TechCapsuleis perfect sized for carrying all my adapters, AirPods, cables and documents with ease. I prefer to pack this into luggage rather than wear it like a purse or fanny-pack. So for shorter trips, where I’m packing like a minimalist, it’s a bit large as I bring less. However, for someone like my wife, this would make a perfect shoulder carry item while on an aircraft, boat or during any outdoor adventure.
The waterproofness and thermal protection makes sense if packing into a backpack while skiing. Protecting phones, GoPro’s, AirPods or other temperature sensitive items. And the built in padding will surely be appreciated if you take a tumble. Although not inexpensive at almost $90, you need to weigh the cost of the contents and likelihood that they may be damaged from any of the factors the TechCapsule is designed to protect. I’ve been using the Phoozy XP3 case for my iPhone while kayaking. The Insulated Tablet Case to safely store my iPad while on a dive boat. And now the TechCapsule 2.8L for travel. And I have zero complaints thus far.
