I’ve always been a knife person and have carried various models of a Syderco knife since they first hit the market in 1990.
A few years ago I was attending the Direct Action Group’s VIP/PSD Course and the Max Joseph the owner and lead instructor recommended the Spyderco Delica. It’s his go-to knife for daily use and travel based on price, size, and quality. Max’s preference is the combo blade with both plain and serrated edges.
When I returned home from the course I immediately ordered one and have been using it as part of my knife EDC since. I personally own the black combo blade.
“In 1990 Spyderco shook things up by introducing two knives, the Delica and Endura. First of their kind on the market, both folders opened up the knife market to lightweight performance, one-hand open pocketknives that just about everyone could afford. They settled as Spyderco’s top two bestsellers and their improvement hasn’t slowed since.” ~spyderco.com

Final Thoughts
The Spyderco Delica is an easy-to-carry knife that’s lightweight and features a small footprint. Making it a solid choice for traveling.
The combo blade gives me the cutting options I need for different jobs. And have found that it’s up to all my daily cutting chores. The Delica can also be effectively pressed into service as a defensive tool as I learned with Michael Janich in his Martial Blade Concepts.
The Delica comes in many styles finishes and blade styles and can commonly be found for around $90.00
