Vision is one of the things that needs protection when shooting or working on projects where debris can cause eye injuries. For example, although it’s joked about, no one wants to be Ralphie Parker and almost shoot his eye out with his Red Ryder BB gun.
In an actual instance, eye protection saved Kentucky Ballistics’ Scott DeShield Jur’s right eye when his .50 caliber rifle exploded in 2021. Revision introduced the SlingShot in January 2024 as an entry into the shooting glasses market as ballistic sunglasses with new features that set it apart from other glasses.
“Redefine your eyewear experience with Revision SlingShot™ Ballistic Sunglasses — featuring a browless design, off-the-charts anti-fog performance, customizable fit, and rapid lens swap capabilities, the SlingShot exceeds stringent military ballistic impact requirements.” ~ revisionmilitary.com
SlingShot Features
Right from the start, the browless frame has been a unique design feature of the glasses. The browless frame helps vent the SlingShot and reduce glasses fogging.
I like this design feature since I have been on the receiving end of a fogged eye pro during a stress shoot, resulting in my inability to shoot while wearing shooting glasses with a brow frame after running in humid weather.
The frame also has features that help improve the SlingShot’s fit. The first feature is a built-in, adjustable nosepiece. In addition to the nosepiece, the second feature is the adjustable temple arms. These features help fine-tune the fit for increased comfort and security when I wear them.
I also tried out the SlingShot’s fit and comfort while wearing earmuffs. Before I got the fit right for my head, I extended the arms to make the glasses fit with the earmuff cups. However, after changing the frame’s arms, no pressure points caused discomfort when I wore the earmuffs.

The SlingShot also uses Revision’s I-Vis lenses. Revision engineered these lenses to be sharp and clear in various environments. As I wore the SlingShot on different occasions, I was impressed with how sharp the details of objects were. The Verslo lens is an all-around smoked lens in wooded and urban environments. While using the Verslo lens, I had no issues differentiating the objects’ colors.

“A soldier using the environmentally appropriate lens is more likely to notice the difference between two shades of brown that indicates the disturbed earth around a buried IED, or it will make a trigger wire stand out from background colors more readily.” ~ revisionmilitary.com
Final Thoughts
The SlingShot brings a new idea of protecting vision while providing clear visibility. The combination of the SlingShot’s browless frame and I-Vis lenses puts that idea of protected vision and clear visibility into action.
I like the glasses’ browless frame, which improves ventilation and reduces fogging. I also like how the I-Vis lenses contrast similar colors to help observe objects that an individual or party might try to conceal under materials.
For $179.99, users can buy the SlingShot with two I-Vis lenses. For long-range shooters and users who need to see color contrast while on patrols, look at the SlingShot.
