I wasn’t always a fan of headlamps, in fact, I thought they were gimmicky and not all that functional.
Decades of using hand-held flashlights in the military, law enforcement, and security work had institutionalized my mindset.
Then, about eleven years ago, I discovered Goruck. And decided to participate in a local event.
One of the required items on the gear list was a headlamp. So I was forced to take a reluctant step forward into the world of headlamps.
I don’t recall the brand I purchased, but from that point on I was sold on the advantages of using a headlamp. For both working and recreational lighting uses. Years of fumbling around one-handed trying to hold onto a light and do a task quickly faded away.
Vizz Tactical Headlamp Video Overview:
Headlamps have come a long way and aren’t just a white light that sits on your head. Two decades of conflict have seen advancements in technology, options, quality, and durability. The Princeton Tec Vizz Tactical definitely brings all of those improvements to the table.
The Vizz Tactical is a high-quality headlamp with five programmable light options. Maxbright white LED (dimmable), Red Ultra bright LED, Blue Ultra bright LED, Green Ultra bright LED, and IR Ultra bright LED. And offers a useful 50-hour burn time from three AAA batteries.

One of my favorite features is its use of commonly available AAA batteries. Another feature I like is the red lens. After traveling for work where I’ve had to share a room with someone else, I’ve learned that the red lens provides just enough light to see without waking your roommate with a white light. The ability to program the order of colors by the number of button clicks is nice too.
“The powerhouse Vizz Tactical headlamp starts with a strong, white spot beam for long throw light. The main spot beam is also dimmable, providing easy to use close up lighting. The Vizz Tactical builds upon its versatility by adding red, blue, green and IR specialty colors, all available in the same headlamp.”~princetontech.com
Final Thoughts:
I’ve been using the Princeton Tec Vizz Tactical for a few weeks now and think it’s a pretty solid piece of kit. It’s worked great for excursions to the crawl space below my house. Which is about three feet high requiring you to crawl on your hands and knees. Making a handheld light impractical. With the Maxbright white light I can clearly see across the crawl space with no problems.
I currently keep the Princeton Tec Vizz in the console of my truck or my go-bag. Just in case I have to stop during the night to change a tire or when the power goes out. The Vizz has been traveling with me consistently since I received it, bouncing around in my go bag or truck. So far, it’s held up like a champ. If you’re in the market a headlamp with multiple operating options I recommend that you take a look at the Princeton Tec Vizz Tactical Headlamp. And all the other great products from Princeton Tec.
Durable body construction and a waterproof IPX7 rating round the Vizz Tactical out for a top-of-the-line choice in tactical lighting equipped to endure your next mission.
