Times of uncertainty create upside down markets, resource scarcity and the need for self-reliance. For those self reliant people, they need innovative manufactures to help them stay independent of an increasingly unreliable supply chain. In these uncertain times, Epic Water Filters certainly helps the survival minded individual remain self-sufficient.
Here we have three products from Epic Water Filters to review: The 34oz Stainless Vostok Filtration Bottle, a 48oz. Nalgene OG Grande Bottle and the Epic Nano Filtration Pitcher. All utilizing Epic’s proprietary carbon filter technology that can remove fluoride without the need for a Berkey water filter or using a distillation process. In this author’s humble opinion it makes all three filters an indispensable tool from the casual backpacker to a motivated prepper. The Nalgene OG Grande and Vostok Stainless bottles are more compact and ideal for remaining mobile. With both bottles featuring a wide mouth lid making it easy to fill from a lake or a stream.
As an avid outdoorsman and military veteran, I found this product to be interesting in its ergonomics. The mouth pieces on the Vostok and OG models allow the user to drink while on the move using a Camelbak style valve. Making the tool very easy to use when field testing it on my favorite hiking trail. The Vostok also features an hourglass shape to better fit the hand and a rubber boot to prevent slippage. One limitation I noticed is that the bottles are possibly too large for the common water bottle pouch on most backpacks. However, with a little improvisation or use of a drop pouch, these bottles can be easily stowed within reach.
Epic Water Filters Video Review:
Not only do these products remove an impressive list of heavy metals, pesticides and pharmaceuticals from water, I found them useful in both urban and rural environments. Wether bugging-in from Flint Michigan, or bugging-out in the Pacific Northwest, finding a clean water source is’t an issu . On the more tactical end of this product, the ability to purify water for food prep without the need to break light discipline by boiling water is a major plus in my opinion. Using the pitcher at a campsite purified enough stream water to make freeze dried cold soup that I always keep in my bug-out bag.
With the testing I’ve done, I’d definitely recommend this product and the delicious water it created from my city water, and even nastier stream water. Wether it’s lead in the Flint municipal water supply or bacteria in the water you’re camping near, Epic Water Filters safely removes 99.99% of contaminates. Boulder Colorado is renowned for their great drinking water and Epic Water Filters seem to be extending the wellspring of good hydration health to the rest of the nation. As a Pacific Northwesterner that’s always looking to improve the gear in my bug-out bag and camping kit, I really appreciate these products.
Performance data under NSF/ANSI testing standards have confirmed that these products work. Even if you were stranded in Flint with only tap water to hydrate with, the lead in the water would be safely removed. The confirmation data on product testing certifications can be found here.
