The Kershaw Mixtape is not your average pocket knife. At first glance it looks like a typical folder, but this knife is well thought out. The unique lightweight design begins with the cut outs in the glass-filled-nylon handle allowing you to see the inside of the pocket clip. Additional weight relief comes from having no backspacer and a secure inset liner eliminating the need for a full internal liner. The open construction of the Mixtape makes cleaning effortless and requires no disassembly. For a lightweight knife weighing only 2.7 ounces it still packs a heavyweight performance.

The stonewashed blade is sharp with a sturdy tip for piercing cuts and is made of 8Cr13MoV steel which is a very capable steel. Measuring 3.1 inches, it’s big enough for most cutting tasks. And the reverse tanto blade shape is great for all around utility. A unique thumb disk opening makes for easy one-handed use. Or you can simply flick the blade open with your wrist. Additional handle texturing and a custom decorative pivot add nice final touches to the overall look and feel of the Mixtape.
Final Thoughts:
In my opinion, the Kershaw Mixtape is a great choice for your next EDC knife and is quickly becoming my favorite over other traditional pocket knives. I’ve used it around the house, on the go, and barely notice it in my pocket. The Mixtape is simple, streamlined, lightweight and unlike any other. For about $40 ($27 and some change on Amazon) you can buy 2. And have a pocket knife that will far exceed your expectations without breaking the bank.
