Getting back to nature with the Glacier Stainless Camper from GSI Outdoors

Getting back to nature with the Glacier Stainless Camper from GSI Outdoors

The GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Camper cookware set is well suited for larger group camping. With what’s provided you could easily cook up some fresh spaghetti with meat sauce and Italian sausage or chicken with rice and beans. The set comes with 4 plates, 4 insulated cups with lids, a frying pan, 2 cooking pots with a lid, a foldable detachable handle for the cookware, and a carry bag. That’s quite a lot for the price, in my opinion.

The cups aren’t going to be competing with a yeti tumbler anytime soon but they hold ice longer than a normal glass. The pots are 2- and 3-liter size with measuring markings on the pot. The lid fits either pot and doubles as a strainer. The carrying bag doubles as a sink for washing the dishes after dinner. The whole kit folds up into a very compact package. The frying pan has a nice weight to it and a thickened bottom to handle higher direct heat better.

This kit isn’t gonna be compact, minimalist, or lightweight enough for backpacking. But it’s gonna take up almost no room in the car or camper. That’s not to say you couldn’t take just the 2-liter pot and easily make it part of a backpacking loadout. Its about the perfect size to cook a few mountain house meals or ramen packs if you’re traveling light. I’m personally buying another handle off Amazon for $14 and making a little emergency kit for my truck by filling the 2-liter pot with survival gear and food.

“Durable, efficient, and fully loaded – this comprehensive set is perfect for family camping” -gsioutdoors.com

All in all it’s a good little package for the price. For about $90 dollars you get enough camping cookware to make a meal for four. The items are made to last many camping seasons. So if you’re planning on taking the family out this upcoming season, or you just want to be able to cook something more homemade and substantial at deer camp, give the GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Camper set a shot.
