Costa Skimmer Sunglasses | Talk To Me Goose

Costa Skimmer Sunglasses | Talk To Me Goose

Okay, so the Costa Skimmer sunglasses aren’t a true aviator frame, they are a bit smaller than that. However, they certainly capture that Aviator’s look and feel. The Costa Skimmer glasses feature a minimalist all-metal frame with mirrored, polarized lenses. When it comes to sunglasses I can be quite picky and as a dude with a big head sunglasses are picky about me. The Costa Skimmer fit my big head perfectly, and they are so remarkably lightweight and clear.

I hate anything that puts pressure on my face and the Skimmer doesn’t. It feels like I am barely wearing sunglasses. They also offer a crystal clear vision that doesn’t seem to be interrupted when the glasses are dirty or smudged. You can barely notice it. With the included lens cloth you can wipe them down quickly and easily.

The Skimmer glasses have quickly become my summertime favorites and haven’t left my side while I kayak, fish, or drive in our beautiful Florida weather. The comfort they provide is top-notch and I can almost forget I am wearing them.

Not So Tactical

Most of my sunglasses experience ties back to tactical style Oakleys, Gatorz, ESS, and Magpul glasses. They always served a dual purpose as both eye protection and sun blockers. The Costa Skimmer are not tactical but are still made to last. They provide more than adequate eye coverage for the range and have become my favorite range glasses by far. They don’t offer enough protection for clearing the Helmand province of IEDs, but for casual range trips, they excel. A set of these glasses and some shooting gloves are perfect for the range.

They do an amazing job of reducing glare and make it easier to see your front sight, especially if you are aiming at targets with bright white backgrounds.

Durability and Design

The metal frames have a lot of give to them and they really stretch around the head. The Costa Skimmer glasses stay on the head without issue, but at the same time, they aren’t uncomfortably pinned to your head. best of all they are a durable design.

I’ve dropped, kicked, and improperly stored them with all my range gear countless times. The only damage done is a nose piece falling off somewhere in my range bag. The lenses remain unscratched and clear, the arms haven’t bent or broken, and they keep on keeping on. Of course, style is important and they aren’t gaudy, too gucci, or showy in any way. They are more or less humble and as someone who doesn’t like drawing attention, I can appreciate that.

The Costa Skimmer is a great set of glasses, remarkably clear, comfortable, and easy wearing. Grab some here.
